Tyrann Mathieu claims to be 'heartbroken' that he will not be back with the #Chiefs, according to Kansas City Star Columnist Sam McDowell. Mathieu, 29, played college football at LSU and was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Arizona #Cardinals. He learned his time with the Chiefs was over when they signed his replacement in safety Justin Reid to a 3 year contract, and then later Tyrann stated that he would've accepted the same offer if the team would have pitched it to him.
The Chiefs did not even offer him any new contract at all, after spending the last 3 seasons in Kansas City and helping them win a Super Bowl. Having played college at LSU, Mathieu had a visit with the New Orleans Saints, who remain very interested in signing the star free agent. He later had a virtual visit with the Philadelphia Eagles who are in need of a safety. Reports are saying that Mathieu plans to take his time and is in no rush to sign with a team. Still being only 29 years old, Mathieu is a top free agent still available and has offers from several teams, sources say. He plans to hold off and spend time with his family and friends, and then make a business decision a little later down the road.
