Oregon vs California Preview

No. 21 Oregon Ducks (3-1, 3-1 Pac-12) vs. California Golden Bears (0-3, 0-3 Pac-12) Date: Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 Time: 4 p.m. PST Venue: California Memorial Stadium – Berkeley, CA (For now, may change due to new California rules) Coverage: ESPN

Oregon travels to Berkeley to face off with the California Bears, as of now. The game could be moved due to new California pandemic rules. Oregon will be wearing Wolf Grey uniforms with Chrome helmets, and Cal will be wearing Blue uniforms and helmets. Cal leads the series 41-40-2. Jeff Grant and I preview and predict the game.

Oregon looks to bounce back against one of the worst teams in the Pac 12, after losing to rival OSU, and tie up the overall series. Cal is only averaging 20 points per game which is 11th worst in the PAC 12, so Oregon's Defense could look more like what everyone expected this week. Joe Moorhead should also not have any issue racking up yards and points against this Cal D. I predict that this game will have Oregon looking like the team that the majority thought would dominate the conference. Oregon wins 48-17!

Saturday afternoon the Oregon Ducks travel to Berkeley to face Oregon Alum Josh Wilcox and the Cal Bears.

Let’s take a look at Cal when they have the ball. Cal has improved from game to game, but still sits at 11th in the PAC-12 in scoring at 20 points a game. They are led by QB Chase Garber who averages just over 190 yards passing with 5 TDs and 3 picks. On Defense Cal gives up 366 yards a game and 30 points a game. The Bears are slightly better at defending the pass then stopping the run.

The Ducks and Coach Moorhead’s offense should have no trouble scoring on the Bears as they are currently averaging 38.5 points per game. However, the run game has struggled the past 2 weeks, and the Ducks will look to get CJ Verdell going early in both the run and pass game. Defensively, the Ducks have to stop the run and the defensive line has to play better, there is no other way to say it. Cal gives up a little over 3.5 sack a game so look for Kayvon Thibodeaux to get after the QB and wreak havoc for the 2nd week in a row in the Bears backfield.

My Prediction is Oregon get the victory beating Cal 41-24.
