Hot Five Picks of the Week
#24 Louisville vs. #21 Pittsburgh
Don’t blame Louisville for their loss last week. Hey, the U “is back.” Well supposedly for about the 5th time in the past 10 years. This is a very talented Louisville football team though. I really like what Malik Cunningham and their offense can do. Pitt, on the other hand, looks good too. That’s Pitt though. They look good and can beat good teams, but they underperform a lot and lose to teams they shouldn’t. EVERY. DAMN. YEAR. Nonetheless, I’m going to take Pitt in a close one here. That probably means Louisville will win. Never bet in a game that Pitt is playing in.
#23 Kentucky vs. #8 Auburn
Many people are looking for Kentucky to have a big year. I’m just not seeing it in an SEC that is as tough as ever. The Wildcats lost a few NFL caliber players, such as Lynn Bowden Jr, while on the other side Auburn brings back a high-level Quarterback in Bo Nix. I just can’t see Kentucky beating this Auburn team early in the season. I like Auburn in a double-digit win. No one likes Kentucky anyways. Who cares. WAR EAGLE!
NC State vs. #20 Virginia Tech
NC State started the season off strong with a solid win against Wake Forrest. The Wolfpack look feisty this year. Winning a close game against a good team in Week 1 can only give your team a Conor McGregor level of confidence. Not even McGregor can win every fight though. Virginia Tech’s head coach Justin Fuente has said that he hopes that they will even have a full roster for this game due to Covid. I look for VT to come out with a junk yard dog mentality and take down the Wolfpack. This is going to be a Nate Diaz vs. McGregor game. If you haven’t seen their first fight, look it up. Hokies in a close one.
#22 Army vs. #14 Cincinnati
I know what you’re thinking. Does this guy ever pick an underdog? Well, here you go. Army is a TOUGH football team. Granted, they have only played Middle Tennessee State and Louisiana-Monroe so far. That’s about as impressive as taking home a 3/10 from the bar. I still think this Army team is for real. That defense is FO REAL. I see Cincinnati having a tough day offensively against Army with Cincy starting RB Kenneth Gainwell opting out of the season. I like Army in a grind it out game here.
Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse
Syracuse is just not a good football team. I can’t see the Big Orange winning against this Georgia Tech team. The Techs are going to have a good week. Heard it here first. Man, I miss that triple option from the Yellow Jackets. However, now GT can actually pose the threat of throwing more than 3 times in a game. 2020 is a weird year. I like the Yellow Jackets in an extremely close one.
