Hoos Show Flashes in Loss to Clemson
It wasn’t a pretty game for the UVa Cavaliers by any means. The Hoos fell to #1 ranked Clemson Tigers Saturday by a final score of 41-23. Offensively, I liked what I saw. Brennan “The Red Rocket” Armstrong looked great at times. After a horrible start, he got it going to finish with 270 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. LEGstrong also put in a good performance rushing for 89 yards. Bronco did well to give him more work in the ground game. The offense as a whole performed better than the 23 points suggest. Billy Kemp IV paced the pass catchers with a whopping 10 receptions for 96 yards. Kemp just seems to always be open no matter where he is on the field. Armstrong has found an extremely reliable target in Kemp.
Defensively, the Hoos looked good most of the time. However, they blew multiple missed tackles that could have changed the course of the game. It seemed like Clemson was just playing around on first and second down. Then Travis Etienne would break off a crazy play to pick up the first down. By the way, why is this guy still in college. Go to the league already. There were no turnovers forced for the Hoos after they forced seven against Duke. No surprise there as Trevor Lawrence is actually a real Clemson quarterback unlike the Clemson transfer Chase Bryce.
Let’s be honest, this Cavalier team deserves to be ranked. They didn’t play great but they were able to hang with a #1 ranked team while turning the ball over twice and looking bad for most of the first half on offense. The Red Rocket will look to have a signature performance this week. I think he is finally getting used to the offense and is primed for a breakout week. Look for the Hoos to come out strong against the N.C. State Wolfpack this weekend.

Sidenote: Someone tell them to wear these uniforms this weekend. This picture is a screenshot from a UVA football recruitment video. That white helmet is too sexy with the navy-blue jerseys and pants.
