#Euro2020 Review: MATCHDAY 1

At long last, we've made it! Over a year after its scheduled date, the European Championship FINALLY kicked off on Friday as Italy hosted Turkey at the Olimpico in Rome! Together, let's relive the glory that was the opening day of the European Championships 2020!

Italy vs Turkey | Group A - Matchday 1 | Rome, Italy

The opening match of the Euro's would go to the Italians who in large part, completely dominated the game from start to finish! Surprisingly, we didn't see our first goal of the game until about 8 minutes into the 2nd half when Italy opened the scoring off of an Own Goal from Merih Demiral of Turkey. It was then that the floodgates turned from collapsing to collapsed for Turkey. Italy would find the net again in the 66' as Ciro Immobile pounced on a deflection following a save from the Turkey GK to make it 2-0. The third and final goal of the match would come in the 79' as Lorenzo Insigne curled in a beauty from the left side of the 18.

As mentioned earlier, Italy dominated from start to finish, outshooting Turkey 24-3 during the 90 minutes and controlling 61% possession.

With the win, Italy moves atop Group A while Turkey falls to the bottom. Switzerland and Wales are set to open their #Euro2020 campaign on Saturday.
