Can Minnesota Right the Ship Tonight?
A date with Maryland awaits and the Gophers need a pick-me-up

Man, what a downer for Minnesota last week. The Big 10 surprise team of 2019 laid an egg in their season opener 24-49 against Michigan. The team looked lost and the defense was clearly missing departed members like Antoine Winfield Jr. The offense was rather sluggish as well, Tanner Morgan had an okay, not great night going 18/31 for 197 yards 1 TD 1 INT. Hard to blame him though considering he was sacked 4 times and consistently under pressure. Can the O-Line get things straight tonight? Against a pitiful Maryland team they absolutely should bully their defensive front.
Well if there's ever a good game to follow up a drubbing by Michigan, its against the Maryland Terps. Mike Locksley's debut went down like a lead balloon. And not to be overdramatic but Taulia is not Tua, game one as a starter was ROUGH. Tagovailoa went 14/25 for 94 yards and 3 INTs....YIKES. It wasn't all his fault though, the offense as a whole was atrocious. Maryland had 64 yards rushing, that is awful. This isn't Mike Leach calling plays either, they TRIED to run it. The offense just couldn't stay on the field though and the defense was gassed. Losing by 40 to Northwestern is a bad look and they are now sitting at +20.0 against Minnesota tonight, which seems low. The Gophers need to use this game to tighten up on both sides of the ball if they intend on beating out Wisconsin for Big 10 West representative this year. I fully expect Minnesota to cover the spread tonight and unleash a beatdown on the Terps as PJ Fleck rights the ship and continues to Row the Boat.
