Back in Blue
Updated: Nov 13, 2020

The Hoos are back in those all blue uniforms Saturday. The last two times they have worn them was last game when UVa beat UNC and the Commonwealth Clash last year when UVa beat Virginia Tech. I’ve got a good feeling. The performance against UNC last game was incredible. It really was an all-around effort. Charles Snowden had a monster game while Brennan Armstrong and the run game kept the offense rolling. The Red Rocket is finally taking off. It seemed that the coaches were finally in on the loop too calling a near flawless game. Bronco made a great call going for the fake punt late in the 4th quarter to seal the game. The Hoos have owned UNC in both football and basketball as of late. It is the “South’s Oldest Rivalry”, but it’s not looking like much of a rivalry anymore.
The Hoos now will play Louisville Saturday in a game that should have already been played. C’mon Louisville. Virginia Tech played games with close to 20 players out and you have to cancel for 10?! Oh well. The Hoos will get it done in Charlottesville Saturday nonetheless. The main thing the defense will have to do is slow down the dynamic Malik Cunningham (QB). If the Hoos can give him a tough time, the defense will be good. Charles Snowden has looked like a high NFL draft pick in recent games. When he gets pressure, the secondary can take a load off. I look for Snowden to keep it going against Louisville.
Last game UVa enjoyed something they haven’t most of the year: a good game out of the running back position. Transfer Shane Simpson had a breakout game in which he had about 140 all-purpose yards and a touchdown on only 9 touches. The Hoos have needed that dynamic playmaking out of the RB spot to ensure that the Brennan Armstrong doesn’t have to do it all. I think UVa takes a ground and pound approach to the game Saturday to keep Cunningham off the field.
No UVa Kollege Sports article is complete without Virginia Tech slander. What a way to lose. “Beamer Ball” one could say. I am certainly glad the Hoos have a gem of a coach in Bronco Mendenhall. I can’t say that Tech fans have the same affinity for Justin Fuente. They were literally on Twitter trying to get students to join their recruiting department. That’s how down they felt after losing to Liberty. Ah either way, Hoos win this week. Book it.
